My name is Alex Durupt. I grew up in Vanderhoof, and I am the second oldest of 4 boys in my family. I grew up loving a wide variety of things: sports, singing, guitar, board games, Mario Kart, I moved to Prince George for my undergrad in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UNBC 5 years ago and have been living here since. The majority of my summers have been spent volunteering at Bible Camps, and these places have provided me some of the most formative moments and relationships in my life. It showed me my love for taking care of and having fun with kids. Another huge part of my life is my faith and my relationship with God. He has given me purpose when I have felt lost, and I owe my strong identity to what Jesus has done for me. My church community, where I found my incredible wife Abi as well as my strongest friendships, has also been very formative and a huge source of joy. I’ve held and loved many jobs, including being a lifeguard and roofer, but the one that has fit me the best has been my EA and substitute teacher position. Additionally, both of my parents are teachers, and I think the “teacher gene” has been passed to me. I have found that I really enjoy teaching, mentoring, or helping others in whatever I am doing. I love seeing others find “aha” moments, and I also love sharing my excitement about learning. Teaching allows for those moments to be part of my job!
